Luther's Open House

One of the things I enjoy about running MOTOR Austin, in addition to the cars, is meeting the people that make the world go around, from individuals that have a passion for customizing their cars, to the artists, mechanics, and hot rod shops that help make someone's vision become reality. But let's face it, the hot rod shop isn't always the best place to shop for clothing and accessories. That's where Luther's comes in.

Luther's, located on eclectic south Congress Avenue, is a men's and women's clothing and accessories boutique with rebellious hot rod style. You will find brands such as Redwing, Stronghold, Church, Pendleton, Deus ex machina, and more. Luther's also carries works from local artists such as Cindy (Crash) Raschke and Will Cascio. You can also get your t-shirt needs satisfied with brands such as Defend South Austin Originals, The Rodder's Journal, Rat Fink, Austin Speed Shop. Oh, and did I mention books and magazines? Yeah, you can get those too.

Cool product lines aside, Luther's is simply a feast for the eyes. From the hanging airplane and guitar to the neon art, one could probably spend hours just absorbing the atmosphere. And outside, the rustic brick storefront and glow of the Luther's neon sign fits well with the flavor of south Congress.

Luther's had an open house on July 17th to show off the store and promote an Indian Larry photo exhibit by photographer Timothy White. MOTOR Austin was there and you can enjoy some of the still shots in the MOTOR Austin Gallery.

If you missed the open house you can still catch the Indian Larry photography. The exhibit will run through September so check it out. All of the Indian Larry prints are available for sale.

Luther's is a must visit store for folks that enjoy hot rods and kulture. If you are visiting Austin from other lands or planning your visit to the next Lonestar Rod and Kustom Roundup, then you must put Luther's on your list of things to do and places to see.
